Testimonies

Christ Church, Melton - Australia

NDOT at Christ Church, Melton

On May 30th, the three congregations of Christ Church held a wonderful combined service and lunch. During May, the church members had been encouraged to give ribbons, cards and invitations to community members. More than 10% of those present were visitors, which was an encouraging response. Some activities were: Thank you banners made by the children of God’s Gang, Thank you balloons released by all the children, Honouring of grandparents, Interviews with a shop owner and a grandfather, Thank you certificates to members of the Sudanese community, small business people and members of the congregation, Joyful singing. Some highlights: All the church members who caught the vision. One young man who has been on the wrong side of the law gave a card to the local police, another woman honoured her fellow CWA committee members. The vicar announced the week before that we will celebrate NDOT next year. Two members of one firm were so intrigued by the invitation and thank you card that they attended to discover who had sent them. Wonderful co-operation between all sections of the church in all the preparation, catering and cleaning up. It was beautiful to see both Sudanese settlers and long-term Australians working happily together in the kitchen. I firmly believe that the outward focus of the event was the main cause of this greater unity. Thank you for this opportunity to reach out to our community with humility, having nothing to give but our thanks.
