The National Day of Thanksgiving is generously supported by many leaders across our nation.
The National Day of Thanksgiving provides all Australians with an opportunity to remember how abundantly God has blessed our country, and to give thanks both for God's blessings, and to the people who are blessings in our own lives.
As Christian people, the bible constantly reminds us that we should be thankful to God, who is ultimately the source of every good and perfect gift. It is therefore important as a nation that we give thanks to God, and I am glad that the Governor General has called us to do so.
In all sorts of ways people can be enriched by thanking and appreciating those around them. If the day captures the imagination of the nation it could be a powerful antidote to the culture of complaint, criticism and cynicism that pervades our community.
I could be a real impetus to our mission. The National Day of Thanksgiving could just turn out to be the kind of leaven in the lump that our Lord said marked the kingdom of od.
I believe the National Day of Thanksgiving is a great opportunity for all Australains to reflect on the good things God has given us, individually and as a Nation.
By moving forward into the future with a spirit of thanksgiving and generosity, we can buidld a strong and healthy nation for the generations of tomorrow.
We at Wesley Mission strongly commend the National Day of Thanksgiving as an opportunity to express a spiritual truth which will open the way for the blessing of God upon Australia. God has blessed us abundantly as a people, but we take so many things for granted. However, we have found not only in our mission's congregations but also in our welfare and relief programs that the act of saying "Thank You" and the willingness to receive such appreciation can be a source of great healing.
I would warmly encourage churches, community organisations and all Australians of goodwill to get on board and ensure that the day of Thanksgiving becomes increasingly significant in the calender - and more importantly that the spirit of thanksgiving, which is infectious, becomes a part of our daily lives.
I trust the National Day of Thanksgiving will be a day of great blessing for those who gather and for those for whom we pray.
The idea of joining together in an expression of thanksgiving to God for our Christian roots and heritage in this nation at this time is not only appropriate but very fortifying and necessary.
I am delighted to endorse the National Day of Thanksgiving. What a great opportunity for Christians everywhere to declare thier gratitude for all the amazing things God does for us. Let's make it an annual event all Australains can enjoy.
The National Alliance of Christian Leaders is pleased to encourage every Australian, to be involved in this positive celebration of thanksgiving in our nation, and to encourage those desiring to learn more about our Christian heritage to view www.chr.org.au
For years now I have been concerned that the spirit of gratefulness should be encouraged to an increased level of expression in the broad Australian culture. I am thrilled that this initiative is finally being launched with endorsement from the highest level of authority in this land.
It's easy to take for granted the freedoms and blessings God has given us. It's easy to forget to say "thankyou" to our community leaders. Of the ten healed lepers only one returned to thank Jseus. Lets use this National Day of Thanksgiving to reverse the trend and discover the blessings of a thankful heart.
As a ministry dedicated to serving persecited Christians, Open Doors is constantly aware that the freedoms we rnjoy in Australia are very precious. I commend this National Day of Thanksgiving and encourage you to remember persecuted Christians, letting their stories of faith and grace deepen your gratitude to God.
